Let’s see how we can achieve a 10 crore corpus step-by-step.
Let us go one step at a time instead of directly thinking about achieving 10 crore because it may sound too big to achieve.
We can divide our investment period into 5 year blocks and see the progress.
Illustration
After 5 years:
Monthly SIP amount | 30000 |
Expected/Assumed return p.a | 12% |
No. of years | 5 |
Value after 5 yrs | ₹ 19,26,218 |
After 10 years:
Initial value | ₹ 19,26,218 |
Monthly SIP amount | 60000 |
Expected/Assumed return p.a | 12% |
No. of years | 5 |
Value after 10 yrs | ₹ 82,60,870 |
After 15 years:
Initial value | ₹ 82,60,870 |
Monthly SIP amount | 90000 |
Expected/Assumed return p.a | 12% |
No. of years | 5 |
Value after 15 yrs | ₹ 2,18,57,801 |
After 20 years:
Initial value | ₹ 2,18,57,801 |
Monthly SIP amount | 130000 |
Expected/Assumed return p.a | 12% |
No. of years | 5 |
Value after 20 yrs | ₹ 4,90,64,384 |
After 25 years:
Initial value | ₹ 4,90,64,384 |
Monthly SIP amount | 1,75,000 |
Expected/Assumed return p.a | 12% |
No. of years | 5 |
Value after 25 yrs | ₹ 10,06,61,341 |
It is clear from the above illustration that you can achieve a 10 crore corpus systematically. All you have to do is to go systematically by keeping smaller targets and achieving them. Then move on to the next target.
Increase the SIP amount frequently when
1. You get a salary increment or when you change job with a good raise
2. You close any loans and free up some cash flow that can be routed to SIPs
You can do lump-sum investments also apart from regular SIPs. This accelerates the wealth growth.
Assumed return of 12% p.a may be on the conservative side. Our clients’ portfolios have generated much better return over the long-term. Though past performance may or may not be repeated in the future.
