Ram

Story starts with the war between Dashrath and Raavan in Karachapa, a trading town. Dashrath loses the war badly and Ram was born on the same day. In his life time, this was Dashrath’s first defeat. This makes everyone think that Ram’s birth is a bad omen. Ram’s life started on a bad note thus. However, this didn’t make him stray away from the dharmic path.

Book contains very good discussions between Ram and his Guru Brahmarishi Vashishta on dharma and moral aspects. Definitely, the book has lot of fiction. Book is good for beginners, kids and teenagers.

Hillbilly Elegy

Brilliant book. Life of J D Vance, USA Vice President elect. Very well written. How his life got affected because of his mother’s constant drug abuse and multiple marriages, partners. How his life and studies got impacted by his mother’s, grand parents’ constant fighting culture and alcohol abuse at home. The role played by his grandparents especially his grand mother in his life. How his childhood troubles affected him psychologically and left a lasting impact. How he got into marine corps and an Ivy league college despite all the troubles. Mind boggling book.

The money trap

Very good book. Alok Sama worked as the CFO of Softbank and during this stint he worked closely with the Japanese investor Masayoshi Son, who is the promoter of Softbank. Alok shared his incredible experiences with Masa Son, who is considered a maverick investor. He mentioned about the various deals, acquisitions, investments done in technology and AI companies done by Softbank during his time as CFO.

Alok Sama’s wit and funny writing style makes the book more interesting.
